February 25 : Tommy
Thayer on his side studio project .... From
:
KISS Related Recordings / Jelle Jansen
August 15, 2018 it was listed here that Tommy Thayer was in the
studio recordings tracks with Jason Scheff (Chicago) and Steve Ferrone
(Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers).
NOTE : Steve Ferrone also played drums on KISS' "Nothing Can Keep Me
From You").
On April 11, 2019 Tommy Thayer did some guitar overdubs in Nashville
for Chicago's bassist Jason Scheff's solo album "Here
I Am". When the album was released
November 2019, Jason Scheff told KRR that Tommy Thayer played guitar
on a couple tracks on "Here
I Am", but that the album was not the
project Tommy Thayer and he have on their own. That is still being
worked on and doesn't have a release date yet.
February 2021 Tommy Thayer was interviewed by Andrew Daly of
vinylwritermusic.com, in which interview Tommy Thayer mentions
the recording sessions with Steve Ferrone.
Tommy Thayer : "My buddy Jason Scheff (Chicago) and I have got
together over the last couple years to write, for no other reason
than to enjoy the creative process. Fewer artists are releasing
records anymore, so it just felt good to write some songs. Jason is
multi-talented.
I ended up writing eight things with him on his grand piano and me
on acoustic guitar.
We sent the ideas to lyricist Randy Goodrum who finished them. We
had no expectations other than to enjoy the process. We went to
Scott Frankfurt’s studio in Woodland Hills and cut basic tracks with
Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) on drums. Jason and
I decided we didn’t want to record with a click track and record
naturally like they did in the old days (laughs). Jason sang the
tunes one or two takes, done. The tracks were so good we asked Bill
Champlin (Chicago) to come in and play Hammond B-3 and sing backup
vocals with Jason, and talk about a sound. We went over to Luis
Conte’s studio and he added some amazing percussion; cool guy too.
Todd Rundgren mixed one so far, and it’s killer. This has been a
labor of love and we’re not finished yet. At some point, these songs
will see the light of day.

February 15 : KEN
SHARP Gets KISSed - KISS tribute single release
From
:
KISSfaq / Julian Gill
Most KISS fans may only know Ken Sharp's name from the incredible
historical works he's contributed to, magazine articles written, and
even fanzine contributions dating back decades. He's set a standard
for others who have followed in his footsteps. However, the
accolades garnered for those accomplishments comprise only a single
facet of an artistic gem who continues to forge his musical path at
a time painfully challenging for artists with costs of creation
rising. His music forms a musical core to his identity, and Ken has
released three singles over the past few months that perfectly
illustrate a broad foundation of talent: The electric "Liquid
Mercury," the subtly biting "Mr. Popularity," and the poignant "Halyx
Rising (Lora's Song)." Now, two aspects of Ken's art joyously fuse
with his passionate interpretations of two personal favorites from
the 1978 KISS albums ...
Ken Sharp: "For friends who know me, I've been a huge KISS fan since
I was a kid. Growing up a child of a few divorces, life at home was
often charged with unhappiness/turmoil and KISS offered me a window
out of some tough times. I've done something wacky but I hope cool
too. Today I'm releasing a double-sided single celebrating the 1978
KISS solo albums put out by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. I've
reinvented 'Hold Me, Touch Me,' a beautiful ballad from Paul's solo
album as a power pop song ala the Raspberries and have amped up the
Beatlesque vibe of Gene's 'Mr. Make Believe.'"
Ken is also putting out a limited edition vinyl single with picture
sleeve, black and multiple colors available and selling at cost.

McGinness of Klassik 78, and PJ Farley of Trixter.
“After the huge response to the first two Kuarantine singles and the
hundreds of thousands of views and streams they accrued, we agreed
it was time to release our next magnum opus, 'Love’s A Deadly
Weapon!' It’s heavy, trashy, proggy and most importantly, catchy AF!
So cuddle up to your Valentine and enjoy the filthiest love song
