Here's a fun and unexpected video of The Gene Simmons Band
performing live with Tommy James at the Wellmont Theater in
Montclair, NJ, on May 6.
Together, they play “Mony Mony,” a song
co-written by Tommy James, which became a No. 3 hit in the U.S. for
Tommy James and the Shondells in 1968. Billy Idol also covered the
track multiple times, and his 1987 live version reached No. 1 in the
U.S. and became a worldwide hit.
But for KISS-related recordings fans, it’s even more interesting to
note that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley provided backing vocals on
Tommy James' 1972 single "Celebration".
