NOTES by Richard Friedman
:
I'm not sure if this will be published....But you will find
something delicious.... I have no idea how this person on
YouTube
got this.
I wrote this song around 1982 with my friend Don Pantoliano.
There's the late Janice Christie, who was murdered after she
wrote her own hit "My Love is Money" along with her other hits.
She played in the Fat Back Band. At the end, my friend Herb
Maitland and Vinnie Vincent, who both worked in my vintage
guitar stores in NYC, also play.
Recorded at Unique Recording Studios. There's a drum machine
added to my drumming and some claps.
My co-writer friend Don, who recorded the demo in my store,
found it on YouTube, where Vinnie played a great lead guitar
solo at the end (5:04 minute).
I sent it to the official Vinnie Vincent for publication. I told
you about this a few years ago. I have no idea how he got a
copy.. since only my friends received this demo recording.
I still have the pressed vinyl records. I never put them up on
the internet. Some DJ's got their hands on the record and added
some strange drum machine sounds. I found them on the internet
last year. I think they kind of butchered the song by adding
effects like delays etc. Don
Pantoliano
and I were asked to make some songs from a record company. At
the time my good friend and customer Nile Rogers had an album
come out for tracks for "Soup For One" (1982). We also had the
other song that had Dennis Collins from the group Change and The
Uptown horns from Saturday Night Live on it. That never ended
up.
Herb Maitland also did guitar work for
John Benitez,
better known as Jellybean, who is an American musician,
songwriter, DJ, remixer, and music producer.
Vinnie Cusano a.k.a. Vinnie Vincent worked for me at We Buy
Guitars in NYC. We wrote and did the demo "Back
On The Streets"
and a few other songs circa 1980 - 1981.
